Emotive and elegant. Powerful and passionate. Melodic and moving. Intense and inspirational. Rousing and romantic…
Few sounds on this earth can stir the soul like the gentle harmonies of a string quartet.
And if music is the food of love, then the Lowry String Quartet serves up a delicious feast of classical and traditional tunes, light classics, modern favourites and foot-tapping jazz melodies to satisfy even the most delicate of musical palettes.
The Quartet is Northern Ireland’s premier string ensemble, with more than a decade of beautiful music-making to its name.
Formed in 1990 with the desire to dish up magical music in an informal manner, the Quartet is now Northern Ireland’s longest established and most highly sought after string quartet.
And music is something of a labour of love for the Quartet’s notable musicians: “We play the music we love,” explains the Lowry Quartet’s Clifford Lowry, “which I think is our recipe for success.
“ We have a highly-charged musical chemistry within the Quartet, and we love to play music with an easy-listening feel to it.
“ But whatever your musical desire, we can accommodate you. Our aim is to make your musical dreams come true.”
Over the last 13 years the Quartet has earned an unsurpassed reputation for quality and reliability; and has played at numerous highbrow functions at Belfast City Hall, Stormont, Castlecoole, Colebroke House, the Ulster Hall, the Waterfront Hall and the British Embassy in Dublin.
The Quartet also specialises in corporate entertainment, adding its own special ambience to any occasion – be it the launch of the latest fast ferry or an exquisite reception at the Parliament buildings.
So if music be the food of love, the Lowry String Quartet is serving up a veritable gourmet feast.
